The social begins with a power point of the children doing their work in the classroom, followed by the children singing songs that they have learned. The evening concludes with time for refreshments and social time for the families. Grandparents and family members are welcome to attend.
New students start phase-in on Jan. 2 to become familiar with the Montessori classroom, materials and teachers.
The Kindergarten meeting will help you better understand what the children are currently achieving and what to expect in the Kindergarten year.
We will show how Practical Life and Sensorial activities prepare and lay a foundation for Math and Language (both reading and writing) activities and give an overview of the complete program with details of the Math and Language curriculum. Goals for the Kindergarten year are discussed. The Kindergarten year is generally the time when the child begins to integrate everything he/she has learned in the first few years.
We encourage ALL parents to attend to have a better understanding of the whole program.
On Wednesday, January 24 we will be going on a field trip to Stages Theatre Company to see a morning performance of “Frederick”, written by Leo Lionni and adapted by Suzanne Maynard Miller. The story of Frederick is a heartwarming story of a mouse who shows us that everyone has something special to give to the world.
The children have enjoyed Stages Theatre productions each year. We welcome and need parents to help chaperone.
This is an event for parents of LVMS children. The meeting provides parents with information on the program and gives the opportunity for input on issues and direction of the school. Attendees also vote on various issues and for new board members.
LVMS is a non-profit, parent-run school, and we rely on the community of parents to come together for events like this. Please plan to attend!
LVMS hosts an evening event that includes a spaghetti dinner, silent auction, and raffle drawing.
There are usually over 50 raffle prizes! The silent auction includes a wide variety of items (about 100 items/baskets). The community is invited to attend
There will be face painting, a moonwalk ("bouncy house"), and a photo booth. There will also be appearances from the Columbia Heights Fire and Police departments, each bringing a vehicle for children to explore.
We hope you will join us for this fun, annual event!
Grandparents are invited to attend the first hour of their grandchild's Montessori session. This is an opportunity for the children to show you the work they do in Montessori and for you to learn more about our Montessori program.
If your child started recently and you have not participated in visitation day you may come, if a grandparent is not coming.
You are invited to attend following sessions:
Morning Montessori session: 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.
Afternoon Montessori session: 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
Families are invited to attend our year end potluck picnic on the playground. This picnic is a time for families to come, eat, and enjoy visiting while the children play. It is always a relaxing and fun evening.
Parents are asked to bring a salad, veggies, fruits, etc or a desert to share. Chicken, hotdogs, plates, utensils, napkins and beverages will be provided.
You are welcome to bring a blanket to sit on if desired. We will cancel it only if it is raining so stay in touch on the day.
